Local Incentives

Citrus County considers local incentive support for companies that create quality jobs, make capital investments, and align with the region’s growth goals. Support may include:

  • Infrastructure improvements (roads, utilities, site prep)
  • Fee reductions or permit review support
  • Customized workforce recruitment assistance
  • Expedited development review or entitlement coordination

All local incentives are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and must meet criteria established by the Board of County Commissioners. To explore all incentive possibilities please contact our Economic Development staff.

Note: Citrus County has an official Economic Development Incentive Ordinance under Florida Statutes §125.045(1), giving local leaders the authority to negotiate business support where appropriate.

Recent Example: Infrastructure Investment in Action

In 2024, Citrus County received $2.8 million from the Florida Job Growth Grant Fund to extend wastewater infrastructure to the 551-acre Holder Industrial Park. This public investment is unlocking shovel-ready land and preparing the site for long-term industrial development.

This is the kind of coordinated state-local investment Citrus County can deliver.
