Citrus County Releases 36-Month Performance Report:  Moving Citrus Forward

December 8, 2025

Citrus County released a 36-month performance report detailing government projects and priorities from 2023 to 2025.

The report highlights projects (including personal livability, community building, environmental stewardship, and economic opportunity initiatives) that will directly benefit the residents of Citrus County. For instance, favorable CRS and ISO ratings can lead to lower insurance rates for homeowners, and better bond ratings lead to lower costs for government projects.

All told, the county has completed 568 milestones and 84 projects in the last three years.

Other key organizational accomplishments include:

  • Addition of 39 new public safety positions
  • Upgraded Insurance Services Office (ISO) ratings
  • Confirmed Community Rating System (CRS) flood rating
  • Affirmed and upgraded bond ratings
  • Conservation of Pirate’s Cove and the Chassahowitzka Campground
  • Strengthened fertilizer and tree removal code protections.

“We have secured historic funding for rehabilitation of more than 180 miles of local roads and received almost $95 million in grants and appropriations for various strategic initiatives and infrastructure projects — all in the span of 36 months,” County Administrator Steve Howard said.

“This progress is a direct result of the dedication of our community, Board of County Commissioners, and employees, who continue to demonstrate what’s possible when we work together as Team Citrus,” he added.
